Laura Pillsbury

CEO & Co-Founder

Laura is a certified Executive & Career Coach (University of Vermont and Vermont Coaching Center), with additional certifications in Six Sigma and the Lean Process Improvement.

Laura began her human resources career in the supermarket industry, building expertise in professional development, multi-state HR compliance, and leadership development. A passion for small businesses sent Laura out of the corporate world and into Simon Pearce, a renowned glass-blowing and pottery studio, where she led People and Operations for over a decade.  Laura went on to run her own retail business, learning the day-to-day challenges and rewards of small business ownership.

While out running in the early fall of 2018, Laura had an epiphany: she would provide the most value and experience the biggest rewards by blending her passion for people and her interest in small business. Once described as a play-it-safe person, Laura took a career risk and created Humnly, in partnership with business owner Michael Ly, of Reconciled, a Vermont-based online bookkeeping company.

Laura makes her home in New London, with her husband Shane and their youngest child Connor. Laura and Shane have two adult daughters Paige and Katlyn. When not cheering on the football field or basketball court  Laura serves as president of The Outing Club, a local youth non-profit organization, and Steering Committee Chair for the creation of a new community center.

Michael Ly

Co-Founder

Michael is a serial entrepreneur and cloud accounting executive. He is Founder & CEO of Reconciled, an online bookkeeping service for entrepreneurs. Reconciled has been recognized by Intuit as a “Firm of the Future” and grown quickly to serve entrepreneurs across the country.

As Reconciled continues to grow, its customers consistently bring up questions related to HR issues. Recognizing their need for excellent HR guidance, Michael partnered with Laura to launch Humnly to provide easily accessible HR solutions for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Michael lives in Burlington, VT with his wife Shannon and three young children. When not starting companies, Michael can be found co-hosting Friday Night Live with Accountants on Facebook or eating his way through different cities.
